Actor Femi Branch has revealed how director Bolanle Austen-Peters influenced his role in the trending movie House of Ga’a.
Taking to his Instagram page on Monday, the 54-year-old shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the movie and narrated how the director helped in moulding him into the character properly.
He began, “Kai!!! This first slide ehn! This perfectly explains BAP’s process. How she draws you in, makes you a physical and spiritual stakeholder in the vision, journeys with you back into the inner recesses of your being to dig out that which is needed for you to deliver that performance.”
The movie star detailed how Bolanle helped him in preparing for his role in the 2018 project Moremi the Musical.
“She took me down this same road when I was preparing to play the Olugbo (Bush Kong) in Moremi the Musical and we travelled farther this time till we discovered my Ga’a,” he said.
The actor added that she was the instrument used in finding his character in House of Ga’a, while jokingly asking viewers not to blame him for the manner in which he interpreted his role, as she was the brain behind it.
Femi plays the role of the tyrant Bashorun Ga’a, the military leader of the Oyo Empire.
The film showcases his selfish tactics, hunger for power and corruption.
Ga’a is portrayed as a selfish husband, father, and an overambitious leader who could never accept defeat, leading to his eventual downfall and death in the movie.
The cast of the movie includes Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Mike Afolarin, Ibrahim Chatta, and others.
House of Ga’a premiered on Netflix on July 26.
