Afrobeat singer Femi Kuti will on Thursday give a present to his late legendary father Fela Kuti on his 82nd posthumous birthday.
Femi, 58, wrote on Instagram that the present would be the release of a single by Fela’s grandson Omorinmade Anikulapo-Kuti.
“Happy Posthumous birthday to our father #Fela. We still remember very well the beatings and pains you went through,” he wrote.
“We ❤️you very much and we miss you very much too. Your birthday present will be the release of your grandson @madekuti ‘s single and video later today.RIP.”
Made will release his single later in the day when Felabration 2020 kicks off.
The 2020 edition of the annual event is tagged ‘Fight to Finish, Fight to Win’ and is billed to run from October 15-17.
The event will be streamed online on Instagram, Zoom, Facebook and YouTube.
Wizkid and 2Baba will perform at the event alongside Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti, Falana Music, Bez, Niniola, Joeboy, Antibalas and WurlD.
The organisers explained that this year’s edition of the annual event will be held virtually as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
