Billionaire Femi Otedola took to the dance floor over the weekend to celebrate his mother Lady Doja Otedola during her 90th birthday party in Epe, Lagos.
It came as a symbiotic experience for three generations as disc jockey DJ Cuppy performed her hit track ‘Gelato’ while her father Mr Otedola and her grandmother danced.
Lady Doja is the widow of the former governor of Lagos State Micheal Otedola. The birthday celebration began with the dedication of St Peter’s Catholic Church, Odorangushi, built and donated by the celebrant.
Among those who attended the service were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Godwin Obaseki and Dapo Abiodun, former governors Peter Obi and Gbenga Daniel and businessman Aliko Dangote. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and president of the African Development Bank Akinwunmi Adesina attended the glitzy reception which was chaired by Segun Osoba.
Reminiscing on her performance, DJ Cuppy said in an Instagram post on Monday, April 4 that she was honoured to perform at the event and would always cherish it.
“IMAGINE the HONOUR of being able to perform to your grandma at her 90th birthday in your hometown?! I thank God for this unforgettable moment and special blessing.
“To be honest I was a bit reluctant to perform when it was requested because for most of the year I’ve been so focused on university and been hiding in Oxford, PLUS I haven’t been to Nigeria in years. I had so much anxiety! But I’m so happy I was able to make it to Epe in time,” she wrote.
Cuppy noted that the last time she performed in Epe was seven years ago during her grandfather’s funeral.
Her sisters Tolani and Temi and also Temi’s longtime boyfriend Mr Eazi were present at the event.
