The Federal Government has approved January 18 for all schools to reopen nationwide after reaching consensus with state officials and other stakeholders.
The decision was reached at a meeting in Abuja which had the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu in attendance.
Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education Sonny Echono told The Nation that schools will be reopened on January 18 in strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
“We have had extensive discussions with state governors, proprietors of schools, labour/staff unions and students’ representatives. And the consensus is that we should reopen all schools.
“But the reopening of schools will be in compliance with COVID-19 protocols, especially strict adherence to non-pharmaceutical procedures,” he said.
