President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Prof Emmanuel Osodeke has said the union’s proposed meeting with the Federal Government has been postponed till August 28.
Osodeke confirmed this to Channels Television on Monday.
Minister of education Tahir Mamman announced last Friday that the government would meet with ASUU leaders on August 26.
No reason was given for the postponement
ASUU’S demands include improvements in welfare, university funding, and halting the proliferation of universities across the country.
The union last week issued a 21-day strike notice, saying the government failed to honour the 2009 renegotiated agreement.
