The Federal Government has reopened Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after a six-week closure for repairs on its runaway.
Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, confirmed this development on his Twitter handle, on Tuesday.
He tweeted that, “Runway friction test, the final activity, concluded. Just landed on the runway, everything is perfect. We beat the deadline. We thank you.
“Abuja runway 100% completed and certified by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. Consequently the airport is open for operations. Thank you”
On board for the test flight in an Ethiopian Airline Airbus A350 from Kaduna to the airport was the minister himself.
