Nigeria’s Super Eagles have continued their steady rise under German tactician, Gernot Rohr, in the monthly FIFA Rankings.
The three-time African champions moved up four places to 60th in the world and 11th in Africa.
Rohr has guided Nigeria to two successive victories against Tanzania and Zambia in the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers.
It is both impressive wins that have lifted the West Africans up seven spots globally and three on the continent to within the reach of their rivals.
Cote d’Ivoire jumped three positions to 31 to lead African nations, while Senegal, who moved seven places, are second ahead of Algeria and Tunisia.
Ghana, Egypt, DR Congo, Congo, Mali, and Cameroon complete the roster of the top 10 teams in Africa.
Meanwhile, Argentina retain their position as world no 1 ahead of Germany and Brazil.
The next edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be released on November 24.
