Nigeria fell by nine spots in the latest FIFA World Rankings despite recording an emphatic 4-2 victory over Argentina.
The Super Eagles are now ranked 50th in the world and eight on the continent.
Coach Gernot Rohr’s team played two games in the month under review.
First, they were held to a 1-1 draw away at Algeria in the final World Cup qualifier, followed by an impressive victory over the South Americans in an international friendly.
However, it appears none came into account in the latest rating released on Thursday.
Rankings are calculated over a four-year period and the ‘importance’ of any game is one of the elements factored in by Fifa.
Senegal moved a record nine places to leapfrog Tunisia to first in Africa, with Egypt, DR Congo and Morocco completing the top five.
Globally, the first five remained unchanged – occupied by Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium.
The next ranking will be published on 21 December 2017.
