Loveth Young, the only female Nigerian competing in elite mixed martial arts (MMA), has expressed desire to get into the UFC and be close to Israel Adesanya and Kamaru Usman.
Young is a policewoman who fights crime by day and steps into the boxing ring at night.
She told BBC Sports in a recent interview that she began boxing as a way of survival.
“Fighting for me has always been a mode of survival. I decided to train myself because when I was little a lot of people tried to bully me because of my stature, having had this severe acid burn,” she said.
Young said she was a 25-time kickboxing champion, adding that she suffered the acid attack at age five which changed her life.
The policewoman said she dreams of fighting in the UFC which is the world’s leading organiser of MMA fights.
“I see my brothers there. Every time I look at their fights they get me motivated,” she said.
“Looking at my career and based on my record, I know in a short time I will get a call to the UFC. By then, my brothers Usman Kamaru and Israel Adesanya will respond to my DMs.”
Meanwhile, Adesanya suffered his first defeat on Saturday night to Jan Blachowicz.
