Super Eagles legend Finidi George on Thursday clocked 50 and was presented with special tributes from his former teammates at Ajax.
In the three-minute, 38-second video posted on Twitter by Ajax, football icons like Patrick Kluivert, Edwin van dar Saar, Frank De Boer, Marc Overmars, Marco van Basten among others sent their wishes including former coach Louis Van Gaal.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also celebrated the icon on the landmark age.
“50 hearty cheers to former @NGSuperEagles forward, Finidi George. Thank you George for the memories and have a good one. Happy Golden Jubilee anniversary #Legend,” a tweet by the federation read.
Finidi, once regarded as the best number 7 in the world, won three league titles, two Dutch Super Cups, the UEFA Champions League (UCL), UEFA Super Cup, and the Intercontinental Cup with Ajax.
He played for Calabar Rovers, Iwuanyanwu, and Sharks of Port Harcourt before earning a move to Ajax in 1993.
Finidi starred for the Super Eagles in two FIFA World Cups including at USA 1994. He hung his boots in 2004.
