Fire broke out at the Otukpo residence of former Senate President, David Mark, in Benue State on Thursday.
Mr Mark was said to be out of town at the time of the incident.
Some property including 15 motorcycles and two vehicles were reported to have been razed.
However, firemen helped put out the fire to avoid further spread.
It is unclear if there are any human casualties.
The fire is believed to have gained access to Mark’s residence through a nearby bush.
Mark has not issued an official statement on the incident.
