The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has discredited the rumour that an explosion occurred at the Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday.
A spokesman for the church Johnson Adams said in a statement that the incident occurred at a gas station close to the camp.
“The fire explosion occurred outside the camp, with the blue indicating the boundary, while the orange circle showed the gas station where the incident occurred. It happened at the gas station before the police station beside the Redemption Camp.
“And as you can see, God had put the situation under control. Glory be to God,” he said.
Officials from Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) among others helped to stop the fire.
Speaking on the cause of the fire, the permanent secretary of LASEMA Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said, “Further investigation revealed the fire actually started from the battery of one of the trucks before escalating to a gas cylinder resulting in a secondary explosion.”
Oke-Osanyintolu added that there was no loss of life or injury sustained.
