An official of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Salihu Umar, a tax inspector at FIRS, wrote early Monday on Twitter that he had tested positive for the virus.
Mr Umar boarded a flight with an infected person. He was on self-isolation before his test result came out positive.
The FIRS personnel was later moved by officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) from his home in Abuja to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital.
“I have just tested positive for COVID19,” he wrote.
“At the moment, I am still under self isolation as health personnel make their way to my house for evacuation to Gwagwalada isolation centre.
“My neighbours and employer have been notified accordingly.”
After his neighbour, Anthony Ehilebo, tweeted that they were praying for him, Umar replied: “Thank you Anthony for the words of encouragement. You guys should please stay safe. See you soon. 🙏🏾”
There are currently 36 confirmed cases of the virus in the country, two have been released, one person has died of it.
