Global head of marketing and corporate communications at First Bank Folake Ani-Mumuney has retired, marking the end of her tenure at the financial institution.
With over 25 years of professional experience across diverse industries such as banking, aviation, manufacturing and oil and gas, Mrs. Ani-Mumuney confirmed her retirement on Monday.
“As I bow out of FirstBank and draw a curtain on this phase this year end! God has been wonderful to me and I have so much to be thankful for,” she said in a text message.
Gaia Africa, a private business club for Africa’s top female executives, honoured Ani-Mumuney in an Instagram post, describing her career as “a legacy that is both inspiring and profound.”
The organisation praised her advocacy for gender equity and her significant contributions to female leadership.

Ani-Mumuney joined First Bank in 2010 as the global head of marketing and corporate communications. Her tenure further solidified her position as a seasoned C-suite executive with extensive international experience.
She previously held leadership roles at British Airways and the Dangote Group, managing high-level portfolios across Europe, Africa, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the United Kingdom.
As a former board member of WISCAR (Women in Successful Careers), a non-profit focused on empowering professional women in Nigeria and Africa, she played a key role in advancing women’s careers in the workplace.
Ani-Mumuney was also president of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) and holds honorary membership with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, as well as a member of the Institute of Directors in Nigeria.
Ani-Mumuney holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Lagos and a law degree from the University of Buckingham. She also holds a diploma in business computing systems analysis and design.
An alumna of the Harvard Business School advanced management programme, she has attended executive education courses at some of the world’s leading business schools.
