Czech international, Josef Sural, has died following a minibus crash in Turkey, his club, Aytemiz Alanyaspor, has confirmed.
The 28-year-old footballer was traveling on a private bus hired by the Turkish Super Lig team alongside six teammates when the accident happened.
The players were returning from their 1-1 draw away at Kayserispor when the vehicle veered off the road and down a bank.
Despite the best attempts of medical practitioners at Alanya Anadolu private hospital, the footballer still died.
Club’s chairman, Hasan Cavusoglu, has claimed the driver of the minibus fell asleep at the steering wheel when the accident happened.
Teammates travelling alongside Sural were former England international Stephen Caulker, ex-Newcastle United player Papiss Cissé, Angolan player Dlajma Campos, Brazilian defenders Baiano and Welinton, and Ghanian international Isaac Sackey, according to Turkish news agency Anadolu.
Sural joined Alanyaspor from Sparta Prague in January, and made 20 appearances for his country, last featuring in their Nations League defeat by Ukraine in October.
He is survived by a wife and two children.
