Big Brother Naija star Francisca Owumi is dead

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and first runner-up of the reality TV show’s inaugural season in 2006, Francisca Owumi, has sadly passed away.

Her family announced the news on Instagram, sharing a picture of her with the caption, “A daughter and sister. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.”

Reports indicate that Francisca died after a brief illness.

She was a standout contestant during the first season of Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija), remembered for her vibrant dance moves and captivating personality.

After her reality TV stint, Francisca explored her passion for music, releasing two singles, ‘Gbadun You’ and ‘Diva’, under her record label, Cisca Entertainment, in 2012. She was also a writer for Revista, an international magazine based in Ghana.

This tragic loss comes just over a year after the passing of another former housemate, Joseph Ada, who died in the United States in 2023 after being diagnosed with pancreatitis.

Joseph had relocated to the U.S. after the show to pursue a career as a flight attendant.

The Big Brother Naija community also mourned the loss of Patrick Fakoya, popularly known as Rico Swavey, who died in 2022 following a car accident.

Francisca and Joseph shared the Big Brother Naija house with other well-known figures, including Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Maureen Osuji, and Gideon Okeke. The first season also featured notable participants like Katung Aduwak, Ify Ejikeme, and Helen.
