Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa has announced the death of his mother.
Mrs Hadiza Bawa died in Sokoto on Wednesday night, according to her son.
Her body will be moved to Kebbi where she will be buried.
“She died in UDUTH Sokoto and will be buried in Jega, Kebbi inshaAllah around 2:30pm,” Bawa told Daily Trust.
Bawa was a trained EFCC investigator with experience in the investigation and prosecution of advance fee fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic crimes.
He underwent several specialised trainings in different parts of the world, and was one of the pioneer EFCC cadet officers in 2005.
He holds a B.Sc degree in economics, and masters in international affairs and diplomacy.
President Bola Tinubu suspended him from office in June 2023. Afterwards, he was held in custody by the Department of State Services (DSS) for over 100 days while being investigated for alleged financial impropriety.
