Former minister of state for finance Remi Babalola has lost his mother Mopelade Babalola known to many as Iya Ghana.
In a statement on Thursday, the family of the ex-chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc said the deceased lived a “remarkable and purposeful life.”
“Born around the years 1925 to 1927. She lived and spread hard work, entrepreneurship, kindness, family values, good character, service and humanity,” the statement said.
Babalola was minister of state for finance from July 26, 2007, to September 16, 2010.
He resigned from the board of the holding company in 2021.
