Former NBA president Olumide Akpata joins Labour Party

Former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Olumide Akpata has joined the Labour Party.

In a photo which was shared on Twitter on Monday, Mr Akpata is seen receiving the party’s membership card from the ward chairman.

This move has sparked discussions on social media.

Akpata is believed to be interested in participating in the governorship primary of the party ahead of Edo polls next year.

Akpata won the election as NBA president in 2020 despite not belonging to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

He said he was dedicated to promoting justice, transparency, and the rule of law during his time as NBA president.

In recent weeks, a number of public figures such as Ken Imasuagbon, Kenneth Asekhome, and Azemhe Azena have joined the Labour Party.
