Immediate past Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, has declared his bid to run for president on the platform of the Labour Party in 2019.
Mimiko made the declaration at an event held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, on Thursday.
“I have found it compelling to declare my intention to run for president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the 63-year-old said.
The medical doctor turned politician also posted text of his declaration on Twitter.
It is within the foregoing context that I situate myself. It is the reason why I find it so compelling to humbly declare today, my decision to seek election into the office of president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2019 #BecauseWeCare #Iroko2019

Mimiko served as the 16th governor of Ondo State from 2009 to 2017.
He was the first two-term governor of the state.
