Media personality Frank Edoho has weighed in on the ongoing legal battle between gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezee Tee, urging Nigerians to focus on facts rather than emotions.
In a post on Instagram on Thursday, Frank noted that many people were relying on narratives instead of evidence.
He dismissed claims that Mercy was avoiding an audit, claiming that two financial reviews had already been conducted.
“Non-Nigerians are of the opinion that Nigerians always stick to narratives instead of facts. I found this to be a little bit true in the case of Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Tee, where everyone is using emotion instead of facts,” he said.
He stated that an audit was initially handled by a company that later withdrew, prompting Mercy’s team to escalate the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“At the point where Mercy Chinwo’s team decided to take the matter to the EFCC, they invited Eezee Tee to the office. This was when the second audit was done, and it was found that he owed her some money that he had to pay.”
Frank also dismissed allegations that the EFCC coerced or mistreated Eezee Tee, clarifying that the former manager had already made two instalment payments of the money owed but had not completed them.
“Some people are saying the EFCC is torturing him or taking money from his account. Let us stop using our feelings to talk about matters. I refrain from talking about matters until I see facts,” he added.
The dispute began after Mercy accused Eezee Tee of contract fraud, alleging that he secretly replaced their original 2017 agreement with a different contract in 2019, granting him lifetime ownership of her music.
She also claimed that he withheld approximately $345,000 in digital revenue.
The disagreement has since led to a court case, attracting significant public attention.
