Force spokesman Frank Mba has advised the general public to make videos of policemen engaging in unlawful conducts but from a safe distance.
In an Instagram Live chat with pop artiste Naira Marley on Tuesday, Mr Mba said: “If you see an officer doing the wrong thing if you can record him safely do so and send to work review.”
He added that he would not advise citizens to go about making videos of security and law enforcement agencies indiscreetly.
Mba said he does not encourage anyone to go into a formal argument or physical fight with an armed officer.
Meanwhile, Naira Marley cancelled his planned protest on Tuesday and gave the police one week to address complaints against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
