A 37-year-old man, Kazeem Yusuf, who allegedly broke into a shop and stole six fuel dispenser meters valued at N250,000, was on Friday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court.
Yusuf, who lives at No.14 Kadola St., Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, is facing a three-count charge of burglary, stealing and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused and others now at large, committed the offences on May 21 at about 5.30a.m. at Ipamesan, Joju in Ota area of Ogun.
Gbesi said that the accused and his accomplices broke into a shop and stole six fuel dispenser meters valued at N250,000 belonging to Lekan Eweje.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 390 (9), 413 and 516 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr G. E. Akan, granted the accused bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Akan said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.
He also ordered that the sureties should show evidence of tax’s payment to Ogun Government and that the sureties’ addresses should be verified by the police.
The case was adjourned until July 4 for hearing.
