Hundreds of women on Wednesday trooped to the streets of Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State in protest against Fulani herdsmen.
Chanting “Fulani must go”, the women said they could no longer go to their farms for fear of being rapped or killed by herdsmen.
The protesters who gathered from neighbouring villages formed smaller groups and blocked major roads in the town, demanding that Fulani herdsmen must leave their communities.
They further alleged that herders have taken over their farmlands and destroyed their produce.
Meanwhile, the activities of herders have continued to raise concerns in several parts of the country, with some regions banning open grazing.
