Nollywood actress, Funke Adesiyan, has declared her support for Senate President Bukola Saraki whose home was reportedly barricaded by security agencies on Tuesday.
Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had on Monday invited Saraki to report to the Head of Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on Tuesday at 8 am in Guzape, Abuja, over the recent Offa robbery.
Saraki, who recently secured victory at the Supreme Court over a case of false assets declaration filed against him by the Federal Government, believes he is being persecuted and is perfecting plans to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A politician in her own right, Funke in a post to Instagram on Tuesday said Saraki can’t be harassed or blackmailed.
She added the President Muhammadu Buhari need not be desperate.
“You claim someone is ‘paperweight’ yet you are having sleepless night over his defection… we will know very soon if this is about Offa robbery or impeachment,” she wrote.
Saraki has described the invitation to him by the Nigeria Police to report to a station over their investigation of the armed robbery in Offa, Kwara State, as “a mere afterthought which is designed to achieve political purpose.”
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki said the police invitation to him was a ploy aimed at scoring cheap political points.
