Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has broken down in tears over claim that she neglected the late Jumoke Aderounmu’s cry for help.
Jumoke, popularly known for her role as Esther in Funke’s Jenifa’s Diary, passed away on April 6 after a brief illness.
Funke also shared her condolences and mourned the deceased in an Instagram post on Monday but Adeola Aderounmu, brother of the late actress, dragged the filmmaker, calling her a “hypocrite”.
According to him, when Jumoke was sick, she reached out to Funke several times but the Omo Ghetto star did not get back to her.
Many social media users joined Jumoke’s brother to criticise Funke.
However, speaking in an Instagram live session on Tuesday, Funke stated that she reached out to Jumoke’s brother after seeing his post but the latter ignored her message.
Funke, who started crying during the live session, added that no one told her about Jumoke’s illness.
“I sent a message to that guy, Jumoke’s brother, he saw it, but he didn’t reply. I am so so sorry. I tried,” she said as she broke down in tears.
The mother of two lamented the backlash she received from those who accused her of not checking on Jumoke, adding that one of the trolls said she would bury her children.
