Deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State Funke Akindele has erased all posts relating to politics and the PDP from her Instagram page.
Qed.ng ran checks on her Instagram page on Monday and discovered that the content on her page of 15.7 million followers was that of her movie promotion and other personal posts.
The most recent post on her page, apart from a pinned one about her late mum, was posted on March 8 in commemoration of International Women’s Day. It was a repost of an article by actor Alexx Ekubo.
In the article, the actor described Funke as his “hero of Women’s Day” because she is consistent, resilient and dogged.
He said, “You exude confidence, competence, strength, and compassion all while maintaining beauty. You have succeeded in your career for over 2 decades, which means you clearly understand how to manoeuvre terrain. You never let anyone or any situation define you, you are an actor, producer, all-round entertainer, mother, entrepreneur, & politician.”
But Funke and the PDP’s governorship candidate Olajide Adediran aka Jandor were defeated by the incumbent governor and All Progressives Congress candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in the election held on March 18.
Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes while Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party got 312,329. Jandor was the second runner-up with 62,449 votes.
INEC’s returning officer for the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Lagos State Professor Adenike Oladeji announced this on Monday.
Sanwo-Olu won 19 out of the 20 local government areas of the state in the election while Rhodes-Vivour won Amuwo-Odofin local government. Funke’s party did not win any local government.
