Actress Funke Akindele has mourned her Jenifa’s Diary co-star Jumoke Aderounmu.
Jumoke, aged 40, died on Saturday April 6. Her brother Adeola Aderounmu confirmed her demise in an Instagram story on Sunday.
“You are in a better place now, my sister,” he wrote as he shared her obituary announcement
Reacting to the tragedy on Monday, Funke Akindele shared the obituary on her Instagram story in which she described Jumoke’s death as “sad.”
“Sad!!! Rest well Jumoke,” she simply wrote.
Another actress and filmmaker Lala Akindoju also mourned Jumoke on her X account.
“This news of Jumoke’s passing is quite hard to believe. Sigh. May her beautiful soul rest in peace,” she wrote.
Actress Tayo Sobola also shared Jumoke’s picture on her Instagram story on Monday writing, “Jumoke. Hmmm. It is well.”
A funeral service has since been held for the deceased at Owu Baptist Church, Totoro area of Abeokuta in Ogun State.
Jumoke played the character Esther on Jenifa’s Diary in 2016 before her departure from the series.
Jumoke has been featured in several Yoruba movies including Toyin Abraham’s Alakada. She also starred in La Femme Anjola, co-produced by Rita Dominic.
She attended Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School in Ogun State before proceeding to obtain a Bachelor of Arts Degree in international relations from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State.
In 2012, she produced the first season of her TV show, The Lounge with Jumoke, an entertainment show featuring celebrity interviews and fashion opinions.
