Actress Funke Akindele has replied to a critic who said that her hit TV series Jenifa’s Diary has gone from being a diary to a ‘textbook’.
The critic who goes by the name Yoma made the statement on Twitter.
“Jenifa’s Diary don reach episode 292? Diary don turn history book ooh,” he wrote.
Reacting in an Instagram post on Tuesday, Funke bragged that the comedy series is one of the best and it’s still educative.
“Still one of the best series ever, no cap. Kudos to the cast and crews. Duh we still dey watch am. Never a full moment every episode issa hit back to back and still very educative as it has always been,” she wrote.
In an Instagram post on November 8 2021, the actress celebrated 14 years of playing the character Jenifa.
“Been playing the #jenifa character for 14 years!!” she wrote.
Funke got her breakthrough in Nollywood when she played the main character Suliyat aka Jenifa, a comedy-drama that portrays the life of a young girl struggling to make it in the big city.
With the success of the movie, the 45-year-old announced that Jenifa would be developed into a television series Jenifa’s Diary.
Since then, Jenifa’s Diary has become a household name with 25 seasons and has featured celebrities such as Lota Chukwu, Falz, Jide Awobona, Adunni Ade, Beverly Osu, JJC Skillz and many others.
Funke co-produces and directs the series with her husband JJC Skillz.
