Nollywood actress Funke Akindele is taking her new movie Battle on Buka Street to cinemas in the United State of America.
The 45-year-old made this known in an Instagram post on Wednesday, December 28.
According to her, the movie will screen in the US from Thursday, December 29 to Thursday, January 5, 2023.
She captioned her post: “USA!!!! We are here!!! Battle on Buka Street here!! Grab your tickets fast!!! In a few hours, we take over USA! Battle on Buka Street releases on the 30th of December 2022, exclusively at selected @regalmovies Theatres with Advanced Screening on the 29th.”
Battle on Buka Street premiered in Lagos on Sunday, December 11 and began showing in cinemas across Nigeria on Friday, December 16.
It is the story of two women who confront each other in a food challenge to be crowned ‘King of Buka Street’ as the best local food seller in the region.
Funke Akindele produced and stars in the movie alongside Femi Jacobs, Mercy Johnson, Kelvin Ikeduba, Bimbo Ademoye, Tina Mba, Sola Sobowale, Nkem Owoh, Tobi Makinde and others.
It was directed by Funke Akindele and Tobi Makinde.
The actress announced on Wednesday, December 28 that the movie has grossed over N200 million at the Nigeria box office in 12 days.
It grossed N34million on Boxing Day to become the biggest single-day earner in Nollywood in 2022.
Penning her appreciation in an Instagram post, the mother of twins wrote “Thank you Everyone for watching BATTLE ON BUKA STREET!!! I love you guys!!!”
