Filmmaker Funke Akindele is poised to surpass her own box office achievements with her latest release, Everybody Loves Jenifa.
On Monday, Funke shared a video on her Instagram page celebrating the film’s early success, revealing that it has already grossed over N1 billion.
In the video, the mother of two expressed gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support, declaring her intention to break the record set by her 2023 blockbuster, A Tribe Called Judah.
“Thank you so much #jenifans #fansoffunkeakindele. Na God use una bless me o!!! Ha!! Who am I? Na God do am o!!! Oya let us beat #atribecalledjudah record!!!! Can we pls!!!!!!!” she wrote in the post’s caption.
This milestone follows the remarkable success of A Tribe Called Judah, which grossed N1.5 billion in Nigerian cinemas, cementing Funke’s status as a dominant force in the Nollywood industry.
Released on December 13, Everybody Loves Jenifa boasts a star-studded cast, including Falz, Nancy Isime, Stan Nze, Omowunmi Dada, Layi Wasabi, Patience Ozokwor, Jide Kosoko, Tobi Makinde and Funke herself.
