Funke Kuti, the ex-wife of Afro-beat singer Femi Kuti, has consoled her dad over the death of his friend, ex-governor of Oyo State, Christopher Alao-Alako who was buried on Friday.
Funke, who attended the funeral with her dad, posted a video of the burial reception.
Consoling her dad over the loss she wrote: “Goodbye uncle Alaka. Love you dad. I know you’ve lost your best friend and brother but I’m sure he’s watching over you from above. You were 1 and 2 but God knows best.
“He will be so proud of the way you have all honoured him. Don’t worry uncle we know we can’t take your place but we will look after your besto the best we can. May God comfort your family and friends. Forever in our hearts.”
Funke had on January 13, penned down a tribute to the deceased.
“Uncle Akala. This one hit hard. The last time I saw you was at my 50th not knowing that will be the final time, I’m so glad you could make it. The next day you told me you hadn’t had that much fun in a very long time now I’m happy you did.
“You were my Dad’s Besto, his Bestest friend ,Confidant and Brother.You were 1 & 2 and you could do no wrong in his eyes That’s how much he loved you. You know he likes to do strong man!!
“We used to joke about it being the soldier in him but I know this has hit him hard and he’s really really going to miss you.Thank you from my heart Uncle and thank you for being one of the Best friends and brother ever to my Dad. I know you’ll be watching over him. God Bless You for Everything My Condolences to your family and May The Lord give them the fortitude to bear this loss,” she wrote.
Alao-Akala died on January 12 at the age of 71.
