Actress Funmi Awelewa has launched a project for the visually impaired through her foundation to celebrate her birthday.
The movie star who announced the good news in a recent post on Instagram said the project was inspired by her partially blind mother.
Sharing photos of herself and her mum, Funmi wrote: “I’m so excited to tell you about @funmiawelewa _foundation FAF is Non governmental organization that caters for visually impaired individuals (Blind) in the society. I believe the value of money isn’t what it can buy, but how many it can help.
“Henceforth, be using my platform to talk about GLAUCOMA. The causes, treatment, can it be cured? It’s time we educate ourselves about the eye condition that causes blindness. When humanity comes together it’s powerful The less privileged needs to feel loved, safe and cherished. Let’s all do this together.”
The actress also posted giveaway items like food stuffs and writing materials from her foundation.
Funmi also built a house for her mother and her siblings.
She shared photos and a video of the completed house on Instagram.
Captioning the post, the celebrant wrote: “Alhamdulilah… Congratulations to my family… This project has been a very big part of my life and I’m grateful that God uses me to change the story of my Family. I can’t just do but show appreciation for what God has done in our life. Here is my gift to my Mother and my siblings as I am about to embark on another sweet journey tomorrow. Congratulations to the Babalola’s family”.

The actress also posted stunning photos of herself to mark her birthday.
Funmi made her acting debut in 2014 with the drama series Osikenke.
She announced her engagement to her lover Oluwatosin in an Instagram post on December 19, 2021.
