The caretaker/extra-ordinary national convention planning committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, to chair the party’s National Campaign Council for the Edo State governorship election.
APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, announced this in a release on Thursday.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, will serve as deputy chairman while Abbas Braimoh has been appointed secretary of the 49-member council.
This followed the approval for the constitution of a national campaign council for the September 19 governorship election by the national chairman of the APC caretaker/extra-ordinary national convention planning committee, Mai Mala Buni.
Members of the council include Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former APC national chairmen, John Odigie-Oyegun and Adams Oshiomhole; and former Imo State governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
Also named as members are former Abia State governor, Orji Kalu; Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva; former Sokoto State governor, Aliyu Wamako, among others.
According to the statement, the campaign council will be inaugurated on July 6 at the party’s national secretariat.
