Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has ordered a seven-day lockdown in the state effective Thursday.
The governor made the announcement on Tuesday during a meeting with religious leaders at the Government House.
Ganduje said that during the lockdown markets would stay closed and religious gatherings would be outlawed.
He urged residents to cooperate and support the decision as a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.
Kano currently has four confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
