Bolu Okupe son of a former presidential aide Doyin Okupe says he is locking his Instagram comments section after he came under attack for revealing he was gay.
The senior Okupe had reacted in an early Friday tweet that although he had known of his son’s sexual disposition for a while, he believes it is a spiritual challenge that would be solved one day.
Bolu said on Instastories later in the day that he was locking his comments section due to the attacks.
“Locking my comments soon. Before I do, grab some popcorn and go read that whole mess,” he wrote.
As of press time, the post where Bolu announced his sexuality has seen nearly 900 comments.
The fitness enthusiast replied one critic, saying Christianity had nothing to do with his sexuality.
“Black coloured, you should educate yourself a bit. Second, the Europeans who gave you your religion has since moved past that because the world has developed while people like you are still stuck in the 18th century. You should know that the same religion that you so deeply cherish justified people to enslave your ancestors in the past,” he said.
