Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said he would be cutting short his trip to Tanzania for the 50th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association meeting to address xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
Mr Gbajabiamila is the leader of the Nigerian delegation to the meeting.

He said in a tweet on Tuesday that he would be on his way back to Nigeria to ‘consider’ reconvening the house for one day to address the xenophobic attacks.
“Will be cutting short my trip to Tanzania for the 50th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference @CPA_Secretariat and will be leaving today, for the leadership of the @HouseNGR to consider cutting short the recess and reconvening for one day to address the killings of Nigerians in SA,” Gbajabiamila said.
The recent attacks began last week after a taxi driver was murdered by an alleged drug dealer in Pretoria.
Speculations that the alleged killer was a Nigerian sparked protest, looting and burning of business centres owned by foreigners.

Three Nigerians were said to have been killed in the process with scores injured.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, will meet the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Moroe, on Tuesday over the attacks.
