Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila has begun a leadership course at John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard Business School.
He posted photos of himself in class to Twitter on Tuesday, the same day the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) protested nationwide in solidarity with university lecturers who have been on strike for over five months.
“Back to class. In a leadership course @havard @Kennedy_school. Forget the number of grey hairs, one is never too old to learn,” Gbajabiamila said.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) wants improved investment in education, better welfare for lecturers among others.
In Gbajabiamila’s absence, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase, is expected to preside over the House sittings.
