Although some celebrities paid to promote the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon boycotted the event on Saturday, Nollywood actor, Gbenro Ajibade, ran on behalf of Action Aid Nigeria to create awareness to end poverty.
The father of one in a video posted on social media also jokingly stated that he was running because he hoped to “run” Lagos one day.
Gbenro started his race at the National Stadium in Surulere albeit much later from the starting time, because according to him, he was running differently.
The Gbomo Gbomo Express star also shared pictures of some children who joined him at Third Mainland Bridge exit and stuck with him to the end of the race at Eko Atlantic City on Victoria Island, Lagos.
Over 50,000 runners participated in the Lagos Marathon race, 2017, with Kenyan’s Abraham Kiptum winning in the male category for the second year in a row.
