Filmmaker Genevieve Nnaji on Sunday returned to social media after a long break to promote her new movie I Do Not Come To You By Chance.
The film is an adaptation of Adaobi Nwaubani‘s award-winning 2009 novel with the same title.
The movie was directed by Ishaya Bako, the director of The Royal Hibiscus Hotel and Road To Yesterday.
Genevieve’s latest project premiered over the weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
On Sunday, the star actress made public some photos taken at the premiere, using the movie title as caption.
“I Do Not Come To You By Chance. ❤️🤗🫶🏾 #tiff23,” she wrote.

Genevieve’s hitherto low profile on social media had got fans worried about her state of mind. This is the 44-year-old’s first public appearance this year.
The new movie is co-produced by Chinny Carter and Chioma Onyenwe, while scripting was done by Chika Anadu and Bako.
It stars Paul Nnadiekwe, who makes his debut appearance on the big screen, alongside Blossom Chukwujekwu. Joining them are Jennifer Eliogu, Sambasa Nberibe, and Beverly Osu. It follows a struggling Nigerian graduate whose seemingly sole option involves assisting his dubious uncle’s fraudulent email scam. The film presents its story in both English and Igbo.
