Gernot Rohr losing sleep over Super Eagles defence

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has fingered his team’s problematic department ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

With the Eagles spoilt for choice in both attack and midfield, the defence is the Franco-German’s major headache.

Leon Balogun is reportedly nursing an injury while the likes of William Troost-Ekong, Elderson Echiejele and Tyronne Ebuehi aren’t playing regularly.

“My problem at the moment is in the defence because Leon Balogun is injured, William Troost-Ekong is not playing since they changed the coach at his club,” the ex-Bayern Munich star revealed.

“Tyronne Ebuehi is injured and Elderson Echiejile is not playing many games, so we have to check our defence also.”

The former Niger Republic boss, however, expressed his delight about the form of his offensive players.

Rohr said: “When you see what happened last weekend, Odion Ighalo scored four goals, Musa scored two, Victor Moses scored one and had an assist, Kelechi Iheanacho played very well at Leicester, but didn’t score.

“Alex Iwobi played also. So, I’m not pessimistic about this department. We have Mikel Obi, who can give good balls and also score. I think we will be able to score some goals at the World Cup.”
