Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has told Nigerians to boycott anything related to Nollywood movies and TV shows.
The Tinsel star made this statement in a video on Instagram.
He said he has begun to feel really frustrated with the thing he loves to do which is acting.
On Tuesday he said, “The Industry is a beast, why is it not right for the actor to receive royalties ad residuals for his life’s work. Is it because it is in the contract? Is there really a contract always? What really is the union/guild actually representing?”
“You the audience are the real bosses, you are the real real oga not the producers or their television network or the money guy.
“If you will, if you could I would suggest you boycott everything that is Nigerian movies, TV or whatever because the Industry is a beast, it doesn’t allow or rather it perpetually improvises the performers who keep your sanity in check.”
In a lengthy post he shared earlier, Gideon said a lot of people are in the industry for fame, pictures and to slay.
” I’ve really begun to feel frustrated in this CRAFT that I love so much. Remember that during the times of COVID lockdown, ONLY folks working in “essential services” were allowed to come out,” he wrote.
“It’s become clear a lot of people are here for FAME! FOR PICTURES. For SLAY. They didn’t come here to change the world. Let alone, ASK QUESTIONS!”
Gideon’s acting credits include Relentless, 93 Days and A Place in the Stars.
