Telecoms giant, Globacom, has partnered with Jeune Afrique Media Group and Rainbow Unlimited to host the annual Africa CEO Forum, a gathering of the continent’s high net worth business leaders.

This is the second successive year that the Mike Adenuga owned-Globacom has sponsored the event.

A statement released by Globacom on Wednesday said the company is the ‘diamond partner’ of the 2020 edition of the forum which will be held in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, from March 9 to 10, 2020. The theme of the conference is ‘Capitalism for the many, a new horizon for the African private sector’.

The annual meeting for executives and investors in Africa brings together heads of governments, chief executive officers (CEOs), international investors, experts and high-level policymakers to brainstorm on ways of mobilising African businesses to champion private sector-led growth on the continent.

Globacom expressed its delight to partner with the organisers on the 2020 edition to provide a networking platform for decision-makers to identify ways to improve intra-African trade and investments, adding that it was part of its efforts to support initiatives that nurture Africa’s economic potential.

The 2019 edition which Globacom also sponsored was held in Kigali, Rwanda, and was attended by over 800 chief executives of multinational companies and over 1,800 participants from 70 countries.

Jeune Afrique Media Group said about the 2020 CEO Forum: “1,800 business leaders, heads of government and policymakers will gather to rethink the role of African capitalism in this age of digital disruption with its attendant economic and political uncertainties.”

The group stated that “the Forum will encourage debate and address tough questions such as: How far should African companies focus their strategy on reducing inequalities, combating climate change, training and creating decent jobs for the continent’s youth? How can such goals be balanced with the challenges of international competition and fast-changing trading alliances? What resources and intelligence do companies and their leaders need to navigate the accelerating technological and social changes that are revolutionising the business landscape?”
