Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, has declared his interest to contest the Kogi governorship election scheduled for November 16.
Melaye made the declaration on Saturday during a meeting of Kogi West Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executives at his country home in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of the state.
The senator, while soliciting the support of the party executives, expressed optimism of emerging the next governor of the state.
According to him, God does listens to him whenever he calls.
“God does not miss my call,” the boastful senator said as he tells people of the state that he is ready to serve them.
Melaye defeated Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly election held in March to retain his seat in the Senate.
No fewer than 40 aspirants are said to have indicated interest to contest the governorship election under the platform of the PDP.
Incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello is of the APC.
