God has no problem with rich people – Folorunsho Alakija

Billionaire businesswoman and one of the richest women in Africa, Folorunsho Alakija, says God does not have a problem with people being rich.

The 67-year-old fashion designer-turned oil mogul made the statement in an Instagram post on Monday.

“God is the centre of your joy because He has good thoughts towards you, to prosper you and bring you to an expected end. He doesn’t have a problem with you being rich after all, it is the blessings of God that makes you rich,” she wrote.

The problem, according to her, “is replacing God with the riches you have.”

Good Morning Victorious People, God is the centre of your joy because He has good thoughts towards you, to prosper you and bring you to an expected end. He doesn’t have a problem with you being rich after all, it is the blessings of God that makes you rich. The problem is replacing God with the riches you have! The Lord is looking for men who don’t serve Him for things but desire Him for who He is. Don’t allow the things of life take the place of the One that brought the things in the first place! Like I will always say, NEVER MIND THOSE WHO TELL YOU TO LEAVE GOD OUT OF YOUR BUSINESS, YOUR BUSINESS IS GOD’S BUSINESS. Have a productive week. God bless you. #FolorunsoAlakija #DaughterOfZion

A prolific businesswoman, Mrs Alakija is involved in the oil, fashion and printing industries.

She is vice chair of Famfa Oil, a Nigerian oil exploration company with a stake in Agbami Oilfield.

The Nigerian government awarded her company an oil-prospecting license in 1993, which was later converted to an oil mining lease.

Her Rose of Sharon Foundation helps widows and orphans by empowering them through scholarships and business grants.

Famfa Oil is also a major sponsor of the Agbami medical and engineering scholarship scheme, one of the most reliable scholarship schemes in Nigeria, with over a thousand people yearly as beneficiaries.

As chancellor of Osun State University, Alakija has announced plans to begin the construction of a paediatric hospital she promised the university this year.
