Senator Danjuma Goje has stepped down from Senate Presidency race to throw his support for Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan.
His withdrawal was announced on Thursday by Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State.
El-Rufai made the announcement in the company of Lawan, Goje and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters, Ita Enang.
Goje and Lawan had earlier met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa Abuja.
Goje’s withdrawal may have opened the way for Lawan to clinch the position on June 11, though Senator Ali Ndume is still gunning for the position.
