Google Doodle is celebrating the late playwright and theatre director Ola Rotimi on his posthumous birthday.
Rotimi was born on April 13, 1938 and died on August 18, 2000.
Google Doodle on Wednesday displayed a drawing of the playwright who would have turned 84 were he alive.
Fondly called ‘a complete man of the theatre’, Rotimi was also an actor, director, choreographer and designer who created performance spaces that were influenced by traditional architectural forms. His works had the distinctive quality of cultural diversity.
Throughout his career, he wrote and directed dozens of plays and short stories that examined Nigeria’s ethnic traditions and history.
