Comedian Gordons has apologised to pop star, 2face Idibia, for labelling him illiterate over the latter’s withdrawal from the #OneVoiceNigeria protest.
Speaking in a television interview, the comedian attacked the musician for attempting to lead a protest with a tool he was not familiar with.
Making reference to activist musicians like Fela Kuti, Sonny Okosuns and Osayomore Joseph, Gordons argued that 2face should have used music as his protest tool.
“How are you going to express yourself 2face when microphone is right in your face and you are asked to express your grievance and the reason why you are protesting? You can’t express yourself; it’s not your game. Do it with music you are used to. 2face is the only illiterate who can sing correctly,” he ranted.
That statement opened a floodgate of criticism against the comedian, so much so that he had to do an apology video.
In the video posted on Tuesday, Gordons apologised to the singer, his family and fans.
The comedian who describes himself as a gynaecologist said he didn’t intend to insult 2face with the jibe he himself said was “below the belt”.
He said his statement was not intended to bring a fight.
