Gospel actor Moses Are 'Baba Gbenro'

Gospel movie producer and actor Moses Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro, has been laid to rest in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The burial ceremony, attended by mourners dressed in white and blue, was captured in photos shared on Friday by Christian video podcast Zion Kulture via X.

The images showed attendees gathered around his final resting place, paying their last respects.

In one of the pictures, Baba Gbenro’s casket, adorned with gold trimmings and floral decorations, lay open as loved ones bid him farewell.

The filmmaker, who was the founder and international president of Calvary Movies Drama Ministry, died in November 2024 at the age of 65 after battling liver disease.

His colleague, Oluwaseun Adejumobi, announced the news of his death on Instagram.

Baba Gbenro was widely recognised for his role in Mount Zion Faith Ministries’ popular series Abattoir. He was also the CEO of Calvary Movies Television.

Born on August 12, 1959, Are spent his early years in a village in Kano State, where he attended school before furthering his education in Plateau State.

He later moved to Southwestern Nigeria for his higher school certificate and university studies, completing his NYSC in Jigawa State.

He was married to Bamike Are.
