‘Gospel singer’ Timilehin Ajayi arraigned for murder of NYSC member Salome Adaidu

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arraigned gospel Timilehin Ajayi at the Nasarawa State High Court in Lafia for the murder of Salome Adaidu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.

Ajayi, 32, is accused of killing and dismembering Salome at his residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The victim, who was serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, reportedly visited Ajayi before her gruesome death.

The police paraded Ajayi on Tuesday alongside the knife and machetes allegedly used in the crime. He was arrested on Sunday, January 12, while attempting to dispose of Salome’s severed head.

In an interview with Channels Television, Ajayi admitted to the crime, claiming jealousy drove him to act. “I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time.

“It’s not something I planned. I saw her chats with other guys on her phone, and that was why I decided,” he said.

When asked about remorse, Ajayi shockingly stated he had none. “I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal. You have to understand what someone is going through. That is why I don’t regret it—we were compatible,” he added.

The case has sparked outrage, with many demanding justice for Salome.
